Distribution:  Southeast Pacific: southern Peru to southern Chile.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 136; Anal soft rays: 106
Biology:  Common species inhabiting rocky bottom in deep shelf and upper slope waters (Ref. 34024). Oviparous, with oval pelagic eggs floating in a gelatinous mass (Ref. 205).
