Family:  Gobiidae (Gobies), subfamily: Gobiinae
Max. size:  1.78 cm SL (male/unsexed); 1.8 cm SL (female)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 3 - 8 m
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: Japan.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 8-8. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: dorsal/anal fin-ray formula 9/8; pectoral fin rays 17, some branched; cephalic sensory-pore system pattern I (complete); absence of fifth segmented pelvic-fin ray; pelvic-fin membranes not well-developed; branches on fourth pelvic-fin ray 5-9; non-fimbriate genital papilla; dorsal fin with the first 2 spines filamentous; slender body 17.9-22.2%SL; 2 distinct dark spots on pectoral-fin base; a dark subcutaneous spot midlaterally at posterior end of caudal peduncle (Ref. 83982).
Biology:  Caught by hand net and rotenone (Ref. 83982).
