Max. size:  18.7 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-oceanic; marine
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: north of St. Helena Island. Western Atlantic: USA to Bahamas, and off Brazil. A Pacific record (Grandperrin & Rivaton, 1966) needs confirmation.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 25-25; Anal soft rays: 41-41. Barbel with three branches arising partway down the main stem (Ref. 37473).
