Max. size:  12.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: Endemic to Lake Malawi. Known only from the holotype taken at Chilumba.
Diagnosis:  Diagnosis: 15 lower gill-rakers; lips more swollen at the symphyses of the jaws than at the lateral parts (Ref. 55954). Description: outer oral teeth bicuspid; inner oral teeth tricuspid or unicuspid; pharyngeal dentition molariform (Ref. 55954).
