Family:  Muraenidae (Moray eels), subfamily: Muraeninae
Max. size:  100 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; marine
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: Mauritania to Angola, including Cape Verde and the offshore islands in the Bay of Biafra.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in rocky, shallow-water habitats. Feeds on crustaceans, small shrimps and young crabs (Ref. 3254).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 16 August 2011 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
