Family:  Cyprinidae (Minnows or carps), subfamily: Schizopygopsinae
Max. size:  70 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater, potamodromous
Distribution:  Asia: Pakistan, India, China (Tibet) and Nepal. Also former USSR (Ref. 1441).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs mainly in rocky, mountainous streams and lakes (Ref. 4832). Found in rivers with swift currents (Ref. 1441). Feed on benthic plants which are attached on rocks and stones and on associated benthic invertebrates (Ref. 40974).
