Family:  Myctophidae (Lanternfishes), subfamily: Diaphinae
Max. size:  4.5 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 85 - 1000 m, oceanodromous
Distribution:  Indian Ocean: 08°N-10°S and the Mozambique Channel southwards to 18°S. Also the tropical Pacific including southeast Asian seas. South China Sea (Ref.74511).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-14; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 12-13
Biology:  Mesopelagic (Ref. 58302).
