Family:  Goodeidae (Splitfins), subfamily: Empetrichthyinae
Max. size:  5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater, non-migratory
Distribution:  North America: found only in Railroad Valley, Nye County in Nevada, USA.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Occurs in warm (35°C) springs. 6 cm max TL (Ref. 5723). Not a seasonal killifish. Is very difficult to maintain in aquarium (Ref. 27139).
IUCN Red List Status: Vulnerable (VU); Date assessed: 14 November 2011 (D2) Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
