Distribution:  Oceania: known only from Lake Kutubu and its outlet stream, the Soro River, Papua New Guinea.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 6-9; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-9; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 8-10
Biology:  An extremely abundant species which forms schools along shallow margins of the lake in both open water or amongst aquatic vegetation.
