Max. size:  40 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia and Oceania: thus far known from the Fly and Lorentz rivers in New Guinea, but probably more widespread.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 1-1; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-7; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 15-18
Biology:  Found in rivers. Feeds on aquatic and terrestrial insects and their larvae, prawns and detritus.
