Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: Yangtze River basin in central China, Taiwan, Hainan Island to the Red River basin of northern Viet Nam (Ref. 43157). Also reported from Japan and Sri Lanka (Ref. 559).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Generally restricted to relatively narrow regions, characterized by humid rainforest climate (Ref. 43157). Feed on crustaceans, insect larvae and fish.

Threat to humans:  harmless
