Family:  Tetraodontidae (Puffers), subfamily: Canthigasterinae
Max. size:  11.5 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 0 - 10 m
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: restricted to the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Common in tide pools near reefs and in shallow reef areas. Skin near dorsal and ventral ridge can be inflated, e.g. during territorial display among males (Ref. 557). Maximum length from S. Bogorodsky [(8.9 cm SL, 11.5 cm TL, collected specimens not exceeding 10 cm TL), pers.comm 04/2023].
