Max. size:  18.9 cm SL (male/unsexed); max.weight: 88.4 g
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Amazon River basin; rivers in Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana; Orinoco River basin.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Is a gregarious species. Occurs over sand and rocks, in swift flowing waters where it swims rapidly and incessantly. Feeds on both plants and animals (Ref. 12225).
