Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish
Distribution:  Asia: India, Thailand, Hong Kong, Indonesia and New Guinea. Also reported from the Persian Gulf (Ref. 419) and Africa (Ref. 7050).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 35-39; Anal soft rays: 28-34. Characterized by having scaleless head; an enlarged outer row of teeth in the jaws; lacks heas barbels; vertebral count range 10+16 (Ref. 92840).
