Environment:  bathypelagic; marine; depth range 350 - 1400 m
Distribution:  Northwest Pacific: known only from Suruga Bay, Japan.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-14; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 17-19. Teeth on maxilla 10 to 13. POSTORB double. AC slightly arched. Barbel long, about 1.5 to 2.0 times as head length; stem sparsely pigmented, ending in a black swollen part with a prominent photophore on each side followed by a large ovate white bulb with a long filament arising at their junction.
