Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 380 - 420 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: Senegal to Angola. Reported from Mauritania (Ref. 5377).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 72-82; Anal soft rays: 59-66; Vertebrae: 42-44. Body uniform dark brown in color on eyed-side; 2-3 dorsal pterygiophores articulating on dorsoposterior margin of anteriorly curved neural spine of second precaudal vertebra; urohyal with angle usually greater than 100°; length of posteriormost dorsal fin ray in caudal peduncle depth usually less than 1.5.
Biology:  Frequently captured on the slope of the continental plateau (Ref. 5377). Minimum depth from Ref. 58018.
