Bathycongrus polyporus (Smith & Kanazawa, 1977)

Family:  Congridae (Conger and garden eels), subfamily: Congrinae
Max. size:  43 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathydemersal; marine; depth range 439 - 549 m
Distribution:  Western Central Atlantic: Straits of Florida and north coast of Cuba.
Diagnosis:  This is the only species with 3 supratemporal pores. Head length is less than that of other species, and the mouth is more nearly terminal.
