Family:  Claroteidae (Claroteid catfishes), subfamily: Claroteinae
Max. size:  17 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater
Distribution:  Africa: known only from the Zambian waters of Lake Tanganyika.
Diagnosis:  Diagnosis: eye subcutaneous; nasal and inner mandibular barbels absent (Ref. 75075).
Biology:  Inhabit lakes 40 to 80 m deep but not deeper (Ref. 4967).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 31 January 2006 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
