Environment:  pelagic-oceanic; marine; depth range - 540 m
Distribution:  Eastern Atlantic: off St. Helena. Western Atlantic: Bahamas, Cuba and one record at 27°S 27°W. Also, Indian and Pacific Oceans.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-12; Anal soft rays: 14-14. Dark grey, almost black (Ref. 37473).
Biology:  Mesopelagic at ca. 265 m (Ref. 58302).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 09 February 2015 Ref. (130435)
Threat to humans:  harmless
