Family:  Stomiidae (Barbeled dragonfishes), subfamily: Melanostomiinae
Max. size:  15 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  bathypelagic; marine
Distribution:  South Atlantic: Namibia to South Africa in the eastern side, and from Brazil to Argentina in the western side. South Pacific: between 32°S and 45°S.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 13-16; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 14-16
Biology:  Mesopelagic species (Ref. 4468, 75154).
IUCN Red List Status: Least Concern (LC); Date assessed: 11 October 2018 Ref. (130435)
