Environment:  benthopelagic; marine; depth range 1060 - 1318 m
Distribution:  Western Central Atlantic.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 106-107; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 85-87. Head relatively large, about 2 times in preanal distance; jaws inferior; snout inflated; maxillary strongly sheathed; branchiostegal rays 8; developed rakers on first arch 12-15; opercular spine short and sharp; pectoral fin reaches to anus or beyond; caudal fin rays 8; precaudal vertebrae 12-14 (Ref. 34024).
Biology:  Locally abundant (Ref. 34024). Oviparous, with oval pelagic eggs floating in a gelatinous mass (Ref. 205).
