Family:  Sciaenidae (Drums or croakers)
Max. size:  30 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; brackish; marine
Distribution:  Eastern Central Pacific: Gulf of California to Guatemala. Introduced with success into the Salton Sea in southern California, USA (Ref. 1739).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Inhabits coastal waters, estuaries and river mouths (Ref. 9118). Introduced into the Salton Sea, a warm, relatively shallow, and highly saline lake (Ref. 5723). Feeds on fishes, small shrimps and other crustaceans (Ref. 9118).
