Max. size:  16.3 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish; pH range: 7; dH range: 10 - 20, amphidromous
Distribution:  South America: found only in Brazil from Piaui southward to Santa Catarina. Central America: questionable reports from Florida in USA and Antilles to Central America (Ref. 7251).
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Found in lakes, ponds, rivers and streams. Occurs in brackish water in seasonally intermittent streams.

Threat to humans:  harmless
