Family:  Atherinidae (Silversides), subfamily: Atherininae
Max. size:  9 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-neritic; marine; depth range 1 - 30 m
Distribution:  Eastern Indian Ocean: endemic to southern Australia.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 6-11; Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-13; Anal spines: 1; Anal soft rays: 11-14. Body slightly compressed and sides flattened (Ref. 9002).
Biology:  Found on the continental shelf, inshore waters (Ref. 7300). Often found in estuaries and recorded in coastal bays (Ref. 9002).
