Family:  Apogonidae (Cardinalfishes), subfamily: Apogoninae
Max. size:  8 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 0 - 8 m
Distribution:  Western Atlantic: southern Florida, USA, Antilles, Caribbean (Ref. 26938) and Bahamas to Brazil.
Diagnosis:   
Biology:  Adults occur in clear Thalassia testudinum beds where it often inhabits empty snail shells (Ref. 9626). Caught at night or in the early hours of the morning (Ref. 9626).
