Family:  Aplodactylidae (Marblefishes)
Max. size:  45 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  reef-associated; marine; depth range 6 - 20 m
Distribution:  Southwest Pacific: New Zealand and Lord Howe, Norfolk and Kermadec islands.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 15-17; Dorsal soft rays (total): 19-20; Anal spines: 3-3; Anal soft rays: 6-7; Vertebrae: 34-34. This species is distinguished from its congeners by its distinct concave interorbital space and profile of head notched behind the eye (Ref. 86913).
Biology:  Inhabits coastal reefs (Ref. 5755). Feeds on seaweeds (Ref. 5755).
