Distribution:  South America: Upper Rio Tocantins basin.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 11-12; Anal soft rays: 7-8. Narrow vertical dark bars above midlateral stripe never inclined nor joined together dorsally, sometimes triangular. Body height 1.3-1.6 (1.5) times in distance between pelvic fin insertion and anal fin origin (Ref. 47883).
