Family:  Engraulidae (Anchovies), subfamily: Engraulinae
Max. size:  15 cm TL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  pelagic-neritic; marine; depth range - 10 m
Distribution:  Eastern Central Pacific: northern Gulf of California.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 0-0; Anal spines: 0-0; Anal soft rays: 26-31. Snout pointed, about 3/4 eye diameter; maxilla moderate, tip somewhat bluntly pointed, reaching just to inter-operculum; gill cover canals of panamensis-type. Anal fin long, its origin under about middle of dorsal fin base. A narrow silver stripe along flank, about width of pupil.
