Ecology of Cirripectes polyzona

Main Ref. Fukao, R., 1984
Remarks Most widely spread species of Cirripectes(Ref. 529). Found in exposed and moderately exposed coral and rocky reefs (Ref. 635, 58534, 53568). Found at the base or in the crevices of corals such as Acropora spp. and Pocillopora verrucosa, in or near large barnacles such as Balanus tintinnablum, and in depresions of rocks, usually coral limestones; more common in coral reef crests than in lagoons. In coral interstices they are found with Cirripectes variolosus, Salarias fasciatus, Atrosalarias fuscus and Exallias brevis (Ref. 635). Occurs in algal ridge and ridge crests between surge channels of exposed seaward reefs to a depth of about 3 m. Feeds on algae and associated minute invertebrates like forams, ostracods, and gastropods.
