Distribution:  Northern Pacific: Emperor seamount chain (Ojin seamount).
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 25-25; Anal soft rays: 35-35. This species of the subgenus Biradiostomias is distinguished by the following characters: a leaf-like terminal extension of the chin barbel, the distal third with a single oval bulb with a small papillary terminal appendage and with a patch of pigmentation at the base; ventral edge of the bulb is laterally compressed, sharp; inner trunk of the barbel with loose melanophoric pigmentation and disappearing at the border with terminal expansion; total vertebrae 68; absence of formed dorsal subcutaneous spots (Ref. 126203).
